The August membership numbers are in, and we have surpassed the 93,908-member mark set in July. At the end of August, we have 93,958 members, including 1,518 women veterans. In August, we welcomed 154 new members and reported 110 members who had died.
While some Regions and States experienced declines, the overall trend is upward, with notable increases in several key areas. Regions 5 and 9 led with 25 new members each; Arizona and Ohio ranked among the top for State membership growth with 13 and 11 new members, respectively. Florida Chapter 1036 remains the top chapter in the top 25 with 1,067 members, and the average number of members per chapter stays at 129.
Please make an effort to sign up at least one new member in the coming months. According to some, there are 4.5 million Vietnam veterans living today. We only have 94,000 of them. Many Vietnam veterans are still unaware of the Vietnam Veterans of America. Let's remember to offer them VVA membership and provide them with an application. As a reminder, the VVA Life membership cost is a great value at just $50.00. It is time to get new members.
